Make this Thankful Turkey kids craft using your own colorful paper, or keep it simple by grabbing our free printable turkey and feathers.
Here’s a fun and simple craft you can make with the kids this Thanksgiving to get them thinking about what they are thankful for.
You may remember the Count Your Blessings printable I recently shared. If your kids are on the younger side, this Thankful Turkey craft might be a better fit for them. Both are great for practicing gratitude, though, so just use whichever activity you think your kids will enjoy the most!
Thankful Turkey Craft
What you’ll need:
- paper plate
- our turkey and feathers printable OR brown and colorful paper
- scissors
- glue
Start by cutting out about a dozen or so feathers. It’s ok if your kid can’t think of something for every feather. You can use all of the feathers, regardless of whether or not they have something on them.
We cut the ends of our feathers to give them more dimension and make them more feather-like.
I would suggest having your child write on the feathers before gluing them on to the paper plate.
We kept things simple by using our printable, but I think the turkeys come out very charming when the kids can create their own faces for the turkeys. Just cut the head shape out with brown paper and provide googly eyes, yellow triangles for the noses, and a little red piece of paper turkey wattle.
